Fun Fitness Events in Hertfordshire (2021)

Hertfordshire is a great place to live and work. It’s also a fabulous place to enjoy lots of fun activities designed around getting in shape and staying there. If you are looking for lots of enjoyable things to do as you get fit, you’ll find plenty to pick from all year long.

We have also thrown in a few out of the ordinary events to attend outside of HERTS.

Herts Fitness Events

Free Goalkeeping Session With Premier League Goalkeeper David Button

Date: Fri, 25 June 2021 17:30 – 19:30

If you’ve always wanted to learn the art of goalkeeping from a professional, now’s your chance to do exactly that. David Button shows you how he does it. You can watch from the stands as he illustrates the techniques that have lead to the big leagues. He’ll show you how to do this on your own with your own equipment at home.

June Fitness Festival & Open Weekend

Date: June 26th – June 27th.

This is an ideal festival for all those who want to discover just what fitness means. There’s lots of fitness workout challenges as well as plenty of classes. Kids can have fun in the bouncy castle. There’s also taster sessions, prize giveaways and a barbecue.

ICC Women’s Summer Open Ride

Date: Sun, Jun 27, 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Riding a bike is the perfect fitness activity. It’s one that won’t stress and strain your muscles while still giving you the workout you want. Women particularly benefit from riding bikes. This event is designed to give them a chance to get on a bike and get peddling. It’s open to women of all age groups and fitness levels. Bring your bike and then head right off.

Rumba Latina Dance Class at Pools on The Park

Date: July 3rd

If you’ve always wanted to learn all those fabulous Latin dance moves, now is your chance. This group exercise dance class lets you try out new moves and make new friends. Shake your hips and shimmy to Latin dance music with experts who show you just how to get it done properly.

Power of Poles Introduction Session with Three Rivers District Council

Date: Fri, Jul 9, 9:30 – 11:00 AM

Make the most of walking with the use of poles. Poles help you stay balanced as you walk. Using poles also adds to your workout. Poles offer you the chance for an upper body workout as well as one that works the heart and lungs. Experts will teach you exactly how to use the poles just right to increase your overall fitness level.

FitFest Harpenden 2021

Date: Sat, Jul 17, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

This summer festival is designed around the theme of enjoying life with family and having a chance to learn all about fitness. Sign up to participate in fitness festivals with experts. In between, there’s lots of food and drink to enjoy as well as a chance to get to know your neighbours in the area in a low key event devoted to relaxing. Adults participate in teams of four, Kids can enter with family members for free.

World Yoga Festival

Date: Thu, Jul 29, 5:00 PM – Sun, Aug 1, 10:30 PM

Yoga is relaxing, fun and a chance to move your muscles. This ancient form of exercise has long bene a popular way to release stress. If you’ve never tried yoga before, you can take advantage of this event and learn how the experts do it. Classes also include advice in other topics such as eating right. This is one system you’ll want to fully embrace for a whole new you.

Koru Gym’s Annual Strongman Competition

Date: 8th of August

People of all ages, fitness levels and background are invited to be part of this annual event. There are multiple events to participate in or watch others do so. Try actions by yourself at this event that include the One Handed Dinnie stone hold, Giant Dumbbell Press, Atlas Stone Over Yoke, or the Truck Pull. Each one is designed to test your fitness level to the maximum. Participants and those watching an also enjoy the opportunity for marvellous onsite refreshments.

Teenage Circuits Classes (Teen Fit) with Open Air Fit

Date: Sat, Aug 14, 9 – 10 AM

Just like adults, teens need to learn how to get fit and stay fit. When teens develop these skills, they’ll rely on them for them rest of their lives. This class is all about teaching children how to achieve their fitness goals. The class offers a full hour of cardiovascular exercises geared towards this age group. Teens and their parents will also find a full list of body weight exercises they can learn to do on their own.

Kimbolton Half Marathon

Date: Sun, Aug 15, 9 AM

A half marathon is a great way to up your fitness game. If you want to get in a lot of exercise but you don’t want to do an entire marathon, this is a good fill in. Get up early in the morning and join in with your fellow fitness buffs. You’ll have chance to run a long time through a scenic area. Bring a friend and double your fun as you head off for this race.

Run Fest At Lee Valley 10K

Date: Sunday, August 15th 9 AM

Beautiful Lee Valley is the setting for one of the most anticipated events of the year. This one takes participants across some of the prettiest countryside in the United Kingdom. It’s a good event for those who want a low key race. The flat territory means no climbing difficult hills and straining muscles. Aim for your personal best with ease. Or just sit back and have a nice run on a lovely August Sunday morning. It’s yours to enjoy.

Nuclear Blast Rookie

Date: Sat, Sep 11, 10:45 AM – 5:30 PM

This one is for kids from four to fourteen. They get a chance to get down and dirty and get fit at the same time. The muddy obstacle course includes twenty obstacles that children have to figure out how to navigate around. Let your kids don their oldest clothing as they get to romp in the mud. It’s all in the name of good, clean fun when they’re done with the mud.

Workout @ Wicky’s

If you’ve always dreamed of being part of a world record, now is your chance to be a participant. This event is one that aims to have the largest outside HIIT class that has ever been taught anywhere in the world. You don’t need to be fit to part of the fun. All you need is a bit of enthusiasm and a willingness to show up. They’ll doo the rest for you at this club. It’s thirty minutes of heartfelt hard physical work.

Give Your Town The Run Around 5K

Date: Sun 19 Sep 2021 10:00 AM

For a small fee, you can have a chance to get to know this part of Hertfordshire on foot. This is a chance to see lots of lovely places in the area and take your running shoes along with you. This popular race draws in lots of participants and spectators. Make a day of it with your best friends. Hit the road and you’ll have plenty of company as you enjoy a nice fall day in the region.

YMCA North London Fun Run & Festival

Date: Sun, Sep 19, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

The YMCA North London Fun Run includes an Adult 10k, 5k. It also includes lots of children’s races as well as festival fun. This is the event for those who want to have fun with their families in a setting designed to encourage everyone to get fit and enjoy the London air. Celebrate families and children and get a chance to go racing at the same time.

Discover Run the Wild Half

Date: Sat 9 Oct 2021

This is a half day event that everyone can enjoy. You’ll get the opportunity to explore the amazingly beautiful Chiltern Hills. For thirteen miles, runners are taken over the hills that are the stuff of legend. Your guides are local English Athletics qualified Run Leaders. They’ll show how to make a path and appreciate the region as you get some fresh air along the way. There are nice refreshment points so you have all you need to make it through the entire morning.

Abbots Langley Tough Ten – 3K Fun Run

Date: Sun 3 Oct 2021 10:00 AM

This is a race designed for the whole family. Runners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities are more than welcome to come along for the ride. You’ll have a chance to appreciate the region and raise money for lots of worthy causes at the same time. Explore lovely villages like Abbots Langley in person and meet with spectators. This is one event that lets you go at your own pace and have fun along the way.

2021 Royal Parks Half Marathon

Date: 9 October

Just like adults, children with disabilities need to get out in the fresh air and stay fit. This event offers them and their caregivers a chance to do exactly that in a fun event all about them. The half marathon takes participants through some of the nicest parks in London. People push the kids in their wheelchairs as spectators urge them on. This is an event that is dedicated to showing off the human spirit and showing off what can be done when people care about others.

Imagination Arts (Dance & Movement for the over 60s)

Date: Tue, Oct 26, 2 – 3 PM

Older adults can be just as fit as everyone else. This event is designed for all those over sixty who want to get up and move. Classes focus on the kind of gentle movements that won’t strain muscles but will help people in this age group reach their best possible fitness level. It’s a great way to learn how to get in shape or how to stay in shape when you get older.

IKCA London Bridge Challenge

Date: Sat, Nov 6, 10 AM – 1 PM

A family day out is always appreciated. This is one that lets you take your time and explore the London Bride area with the people you love. The seven mile follows the river and lets you see why so many people love living by The Thames. Take a brisk walk and donate to charity as you do so. The entire group gets a chance to see what makes London such a special place to live and work.
