10 Guilt Free Snacks
There really is nothing more annoying than being hungry and not knowing what you should or shouldn’t be snacking on. Especially when there is so much temptation and the wrong foods for us to grab on the go, such as endless deals on chocolate bars or shop bought “healthy” smoothies that are just full of sugar.
Although the ideal may be to eat regular meals containing the right foods (thereby reducing the need for snacking) there are inevitably times when this is just not possible such as being on the go, travelling, being stuck in a two-hour traffic jam.
So what do we suggest you do in those moments? Here is a simple list of some of our favourite snack ideas. All of which can be pre-made at home and carried with you or some shop bought ones that you can keep in your car for little emergencies.
Speedy Homemade Snacks
1. Celery Stick with Nut Butter
How: Chop celery into sticks (or buy it already chopped) add a small tsp of Almond, Peanut or Cashew butter into the ridges of each stick. Pack into a Tupperware and you’re done. Try to rotate your nut butters if possible, so you don’t eat the same one repeatedly.
2. Crudities and Hummus
How: Take a scoop of hummus and put in mini Tupperware, then chop up some veggies of your choice (Bell Peppers, Carrots, Raw Broccoli etc.) and dip! (Just be sure to check ingredients of shop bought Hummus as some contain hidden sugars).
3. Cucumber Boats
How: Take half a cucumber and cut into quarters lengthwise.
Scoop out the seeds with a teaspoon and discard.
Now they should look like little boats..
Fill with a little amount of either a good quality full fat cottage or cream cheese (organic if possible).
4. Brazil Stuffed Dates
How: Take 2-3 Medjool Dates (depending on you calorie requirements) and de-stone if they aren’t already. Take one Brazil nut per date and stuff inside. Stick them in a ziplock and eat when needed, bearing in mind, these are most likely better to be eaten earlier in the day as dates are quite sweet!
